The Valle d’Itria, between countryside and sea

Nina is set in the countryside of Monopoli, in the province of Bari, in the heart of the Valle d’Itria and along the Costa dei Trulli, just a few kilometres from the Adriatic Sea. It is a singular landscape in Puglia, where trulli, lamie, dry stone walls and ancient olive trees shape an enduring balance between rural architecture and nature. The light is intense, the air dry, the horizons open. Here, the countryside is not a backdrop, but a living part of the landscape.

Monopoli and its contrade

Monopoli is a city of deep roots, overlooking the Adriatic and known as the “city of a hundred contrade”. Beyond the port and the historic centre, marked by ancient walls and successive Mediterranean rule, the landscape opens into an agricultural geography of masserie, tratturi and small rural settlements. Tortorella, the contrada where Nina is set, belongs to this continuity: a place where history is not an isolated monument, but a presence spread through the landscape.

Villages, sea and back roads

From Nina, Alberobello — with its UNESCO-listed trulli — Ostuni, the white city, Castellana Grotte, Conversano and Polignano a Mare are all within easy reach. But the true character of the Valle d’Itria does not end with its iconic places. It lives in the back roads, in the olive mills, in the wineries, and in the small farms and artisan workshops that preserve gestures and knowledge passed down over time. It is a landscape to be discovered slowly, without hurry.

Natural rhythm and a culture of taste

Here, cuisine is a consequence of the landscape: extra virgin olive oil, seasonal vegetables, indigenous wines and essential preparations come from a land that remains active. The Valle d’Itria is not a postcard, but a living balance between identity and hospitality. Staying at Nina means experiencing it with restraint, guided by the light and the seasons.
